RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Meadowbrook Monarchs may have the three toughest games to start the season of any team in the area and possibly the state. The Monarchs start the season hosting L.C. Bird, then travel to Hermitage, and then host Highland Springs. After losing each of their first two games, the Monarchs shocked the world Friday with an 8-7 win over #1 Highland Springs. It’s one of the biggest upsets in Central Virginia high school football history. For that effort, we reward Meadowbrook and Head Coach Adam Tiller with our #8SportsBlitz Team of the Week award.
